As a Computer Scientist you will:
Develop the vision for long-term computer science research to address the increasingly diverse and complex future high performance computing environments. Provides scientific guidance needed to align computer science research with that vision and sustain that research at world-class levels.
Serve as Program Manager determining scientific focus and direction of assigned areas of computer science, preparing calls for proposals, organizing independent peer reviews, recommending funding allocations, organizing Principal Investigator meetings, serving as a liaison on committees, and monitoring scientific computing progress of the program.
Conceive, justifies, plans, initiates, manages, and coordinates all aspects of a broad range of collaboration technology, collaboratories, and/or the supporting middleware research.
Serve as a recognized scientific computing authority and expert resource in computer science research, in areas such as programming environments, runtime systems, methodologies and tools for high performance and highly distributed computing, and as such has the responsibility to plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate research programs in this field on a national and international level.
Prepare, justifies, and supports the portions of the budget relating to computer science. Proposes and implements adjustments to programs during the budget approval process and responds to unanticipated developments. Develops, coordinates, and organizes funding allocations for assigned programs.
Selects and ascertains the qualifications and suitability of peer reviews for proposed new programs and on-going programs. Evaluates the comprehensives, balance, appropriateness and applicability of the reviews received

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Specialized experience for this position is defined as your involvement in fundamental scientific research activities in computer and computational sciences. Please describe your level of experience in Programming environments;Runtime systems;Methodologies and tools for high performance computing;Methodologies and tools for highly distributed computing, including smart sensors, detectors, workflows and middleware;Machine learning and Artificial Intelligence.

Knowledge of policies and procedures for merit reviews to effectively manage and plan a research program in the area of computer science.
Mastery knowledge and understanding of computer science, in the areas of as programming environments, runtime systems, methodologies and tools for high performance and highly distributed computing, which includes sensors and detectors and its potential value to other DOE programs. Knowledge and understanding of machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Knowledge and skill in planning, budgeting, justifying, and allocating funds among a variety of competing scientific research programs and/or projects.
Professional knowledge and skill with the current status of the computer science research community to select expert reviewers with specialized expertise in many areas of computer science.
