The incumbent serves as a Supervisory Loan Specialist and is responsible for evaluating loan applications for program eligibility and creditworthiness requiring experience with business structures and financial statement analysis.

This is a full time temporary position NTE 1 year which may be extended for an additional year for a maximum of 2 years in support of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act. This is an Open Continuous announcement. Applicants will be reviewed as needed starting from the opening date of the announcement. This announcement will be open until all vacancies are filled.

This position is being filled in response to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.

The Supervisory Loan Specialist is responsible for;

  • Supervision:- Provides technical and administrative supervision to staff, Identifies, decides and provides fort raining needs. Plan, coach, problem solve and make decisions.
  • Financial Management: Responsible for servicing liquidating and purchasing 7a and 504 business loans. Analyzes problem Center trends, workloads, and recommends or initiates appropriate action. Plans, develops, coordinates and evaluates the servicing liquidation and purchasing activities of the Center's portfolio. Reviews, analyzes and approves 327/loan transaction records for assigned team. Assists specialists with the handling of extremely complex and/or difficult loan problems.
  • Fostering Relationships: Maintains good working relationships with other supervisors, team leaders, attorneys, lenders, other program offices, borrowers and 3rd parties. Explains policy regarding SBA regulations as well as Center policies and procedures. Handles difficult and challenging discussions with team members as well as other SBA offices, lenders, borrowers and other 3rd parties.
  • Communication: demonstrate strong negotiating skills; provide high level of customer service to members of the general public, banking industry, legal and other professionals and communicate program strategies, goals and priorities.

Qualifications

GS-13: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector: includes In-depth analysis of obligator's financial statements and earning potential of a variety of business enterprises to make recommendations for residential and commercial/business loan applications or servicing/liquidation actions, including a thorough working knowledge of a variety of collateral, business types, loan program and general economic conditions; AND Leading a team or managing an office of loan officers/specialists in business/residential loan programs including but not limited to servicing, collections, and/or loan liquidation. This experience must be clearly documented in your resume.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
