Duties

Help
  • Provides technical advice on plans and designs for new or modified systems.
  • Evaluation of system requirements and capabilities.
  • Inspection of new installations and acceptance tests on systems.
  • Troubleshoots and inspects fire detection systems.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs sub-assemblies and printed circuit boards.
  • Tests, adjusts and repairs RF transmitters and receivers.
  • Develops working sketches and lays out new installations.
  • Operate precision electronic instruments or equipment to troubleshoot fire alarm input device operational status.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC without more than normal supervision. Applicant must have performed the common Electronics Mechanic duties including component replacement, control wire connections, battery exchange, fire alarm control panel resets, and other more complex tasks under the supervision of journey level technicians. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Efforts: Works in some small and cramped spaces or at moderate heights. Some climbing of utility poles is required. Lifts items weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier. Moderate physical effort is used to operate the motor vehicle.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works predominantly inside, with some outside work during all types of weather. Subject to cuts, bruises, and broken bones when handling material or tools and from falls from poles or ladders. Subject to electric shock of up to 600 volts.
