As a Government Information Specialist, you will:


• Analyze and prepare responses to FOIA/PA requests requiring serious deliberation and involving sensitive issues. Serve as the division expert on such matters as enforcement matters, procedures pursuant to the submission of proprietary business related information, corporate applications, contracts and the government acquisitions process and discretionary releases of information using the foreseeable harm standard.


• Maintain database used to track enforcement actions. Produce the monthly press release listing enforcement actions taken by the agency. Work with preparing releasable versions of these documents for Press Relations for special cases. Download electronic information from database and prepares it for publication to the OCC website. Assist in the Production of the monthly Interpretations and Actions publication. Prepare a variety of management reports and assist the Freedom of Information Act Officer in preparing other reports as assigned. Create and maintain files for use in possible appeals and/or litigation and ensure an effective records management system for information requests and responses.


• Support the Division's information effort by responding to incoming requests, orally and in writing, for information regarding the OCC and its programs. This includes contacts with attorneys, members of the news media, financial industry, and the public at-large to provide advice and counsel on the use of the FOIA in order to gather materials and respond to questions about agency actions.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 60 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement:


You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-IV band level or GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:

Interpreting and applying rules, regulations, and policies applicable to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) in order to evaluate and respond to FOIA requests; and Providing guidance to customers regarding FOIA rules, regulations, and policies.

The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

  • Salary range includes 22.26% geographical pay.
