  • You will provide historical support by responding to and coordinating inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • You will perform historical liaison with planning and policy agencies.
  • You will provide historical representation at historical meetings and conferences.

Qualifications

You will be a Historian with the Naval History & Heritage Command.

This position will be filled using the Direct Hire Authority for Recent Graduates.

In addition to the Basic Requirements described below for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Utilizing a specialized knowledge in modern organizational and operational naval or military history, 2. Conducting scholarly research in naval or military archives, 3. Presenting papers at scholarly historical conferences and presenting historical material to general audiences, 4. Publishing peer-reviewed articles in books or scholarly journals.

Education

Basic Requirement:

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess a degree in history; or related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history.

or

Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in history, or a major in a related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
