    EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

    In this position, you will provide support to the FEMA Regional Offices, Region II, Regional Administrator, Caribbean Area Division as the Mission Support Division Director by exercising a full range of managerial authority to direct, coordinate and control the activities of the Division's employees and assuring implementation of program goals and objectives.

    Typical assignments include but are not limited to:

    • Advising on new developments, changing emphasis, or other events which could greatly impact on the effectiveness of program and administrative service delivery.
    • Finding and implementing ways to eliminate or reduce significant bottlenecks and barriers to production and services.
    • Developing, maintaining, and directing capability of the staff to accomplish the logistics, information systems, communication systems, and administrative function such as recruitment and staffing process.
    • Applying laws, policies, and procedures to Human Capital/Human Resources functions while providing advice and guidance to all levels of leadership on human resources functions.
    • Providing guidance on organizational structure and ensuring alignment to Federal workforce requirements.

    Promotion Potential: Positions filled under Stafford Act regulations generally do not have documented promotion potential; however, dependent on an employee’s ability to perform higher level duties, the continuing need for an employee to perform work associated with a higher level position, and administrative recommendation and approval, promotions may be earned by CORE employees.
