Duties

Help
  • You will examine program interaction within its environment, using reverse-engineering executable codes, as well as the attack?s impact on the program?s environment.
  • You will performs cyber forensic analysis of information systems (computers, removable media, mobile phones, etc.) to recover data.
  • You will configures and operates cyber forensic analysis tools, hardware (write-blockers, faraday containers), removable storage, software (case management systems), and workspaces (Encase, X-ways, etc.).
  • You will maintains chain-of-custody for all items under investigation in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

  • Occasional travel of up to 5% is required, which may involve the use of commercial and/or government aircraft.
  • This position is MISSION ESSENTIAL and the incumbent is required to report for duty, as necessary, in an emergency (regardless of holidays, weekends, nights, furloughs) .

Qualifications

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by:

IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: reviewing completed work projects and providing technical assistance, guidance and advice as needed.2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Implementing and promoting partnerships towards network-centric Cyber goals and objectives.3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Take action to design, develop, implement, monitor and maintain system analysis activities to support customer needs.4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Analyzing problematic provisions or guidance governing IT systems and provide assistance and advisory services towards a resolution.In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above,
You must also demonstrate this specialized experience: Serving as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist in the Malware and Forensic Analysis Team (MFAT), DCO, MCCOG and reports directly to the Discovery and Counter Infiltration (D&CI) Lead, DCO. Responsible for the planning and execution of MFAT operations in support of cyber incident detection and response efforts on the Marine Corps Enterprise Network (MCEN) and other Marine Corps related assets.

This position is a DoD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1599f.
