Duties

Help

As a Industry Economist, you will:

  • Advise senior management on matters pertaining to the economics of energy markets.
  • Provide authoritative review and guidance on methodologies used, proper assumptions, policy issues considered and results.
  • Interpret and reviews policy directives, regulatory issuance and other guidance received from higher authority to determine the impact on EIA activities and analyses.
  • Provide expert advice to EIA senior Management on economic matters pertaining to industry and market developments and with executives from other Federal agencies.
  • Participates in National and regional workshops and conferences in a continuing effort to maintain coordination with all agencies engaged in the economic evaluation and social impact assessment of related water resources development.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Basic Requirements

  1. Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.

    or

  2. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

AND

A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:

  • Consult with representatives of industry, education, scientific, engineering, environmental, and technological groups to provide for the development of new methodologies in economic evaluation and social impact assessment
  • Coordinate with national and regional workshops, conferences and agencies engaged in the economic evaluation and social impact assessment of related water resources development.
  • Oversee study teams responsible for coaching, teaching, and communicating team objectives, mission, goals, problems to be solved, milestones, techniques, work methods, procedures, and parameters of a viable solution.
  • Review omissions, discrepancies, inadequacies, and non-conformance with approved criteria and recommends study team preparation of additional supportive documentation to substantiate project results

  1. Knowledge of a subject matter area in economics sufficient to provide expert economic analysis of pertinent issues
  2. Knowledge of complex data analysis and report writing to present findings
  3. Knowledge of economic theory, methodologies, statistical procedures, econometrics, and computer methods in order to develop creative solutions to analytical problems and research methodology.
  4. Skill in articulating and negotiating very complex and sensitive issues with officials of diverse perspectives and with different, sometimes opposing views
  5. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, information sources and project team members.
