Located on the Central Coast of California between Los Angeles and San Francisco, the nearest towns are King City 26 miles north and Paso Robles 50 miles south. Ft Hunter Liggett is located in a rural area so a vehicle is a must; bus, car and van pools are available from select locations.

  • Serve as SRP GIS Coordinator for ITAM.
  • Ensure functional requirements for the SRP GIS program are met.
  • Create and manipulate GIS databases.
  • Ensure range-related facility data is identified and coordinated with the real property office.

Basic requirement for Geographer (GIS Coordinator):
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in Geography; or related physical or social science such as Geology, Meteorology, Economics, Statistics, Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, History, Cartography, Computer Science, Urban Studies, or Planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields.

OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in Geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves coordinating operation aspects of military training, maneuver, combined arms, and safety requirements with natural resources, land and air, as well as infrastructure assets. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
