    This position is located in the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), Manufacturing Directorate, Office of Engraving. The incumbent serves in a seven year apprentice in training for the position of Letter and Script Engraver.

    Training consists of actual shop work under the instruction and supervisor of a journeyman Engraver to whom the apprentice is assigned. Successful completion of the apprenticeship program qualifies the apprentice as a journeyman Letter and Script Engraver.

    As a Letter and Script Engraver Apprentice, you will:

    - Learn elementary letter spacing and word spacing
    - Learn drawing and transferring techniques with engravers' transfer wax and acetate
    - Practice art of cutting straight lines, circles, concentric lines and circles progressing to letter shapes
    - Begin learning use of acids, laying of hot and poured grounds, stopping out and etching
