The incumbent serves as an International Broadcaster, Video Journalist with responsibility for conceiving, planning, researching, writing, shooting and editing original video packages for multimedia platforms.
Summary
This position is located in the Africa Division at the Voice of America in Washington, DC. The incumbent serves as an International Broadcaster, Video Journalist with responsibility for conceiving, planning, researching, writing, shooting and editing original video packages for multimedia platforms.
-Serves simultaneously as solo producer; reporter, videographer, video editor, for television and digital news and feature stories for a competitive, quality level international media market. Handles audio and lighting elements on assignment.
-Uses a variety of sources including area experts, social media, daily newspapers, or magazines. Prepares integrated, highly-targeted, well-balanced scripts, television packages that capture the attention of the audience. Content is typically complex and sensitive and involve controversial subjects.
-Edits video using Adobe Premier, Photoshop.
-In collaboration with the Division's Bridge Editor, is responsible for making certain video packages are available in English in a timely manner. This includes translating into the English-language.
-Creates and edits compelling video content for online platforms to be aired, social media, and streamed or downloaded onto compatible devices. Combines stunning visual effects and live action video to create high-impact videos.
-Set up lighting and audio equipment for location work; operates the portable equipment and works with the other production staff in pre-production planning and production.
-Responsible for making foreign language and English-language video packages.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level which is directly related to this line of work AND the ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a second language from among the languages listed in the link to the website below, sufficient to provide enough information so the receiver can get the gist of most of the conversation or at least to be able to communicate technical/non-technical work-related matters. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes professional experience as field reporter and producer to research, write, shoot and edit highly-targeted original news or feature video packages for multimedia platforms such as TV, radio, Internet, social media, and mobile devices. Also includes professional skill in videography and video editing, using motivated camera movements with a digital video camera, and demonstrated ability to turn around stories in a timely manner.
