Summary

The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is defined as Fort Wainwright and surrounding communities within 150 miles of the installation. (Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.)

Up to 25% recruitment incentive may be authorized.

Duties

Help
  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities for program participants based on observed needs of individual children/youth and in cooperation with other CYS staff.
  • Demonstrates proper work methods and provides work-related guidance to subordinates when required.
  • Interacts with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques. Promotes and role models safety, fitness, health and nutrition practices.
  • Trains children/youth in use of equipment and software programs. Assists in training employees and Family Child Care Providers in Basic Computer Skills as required.
  • Completes designated training requirements and records completed training on own Individual Development Plan (IDP).

  • Satisfactory performance, successful completion of training requirements (transition and/or annual) and demonstrated on the job competency is required.
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Completed and signed DA Form 3433 is required prior to entrance on duty.
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-All required background checks of AR 215-3, 2-15.m. and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation is required.
  • Must have current health assessment which documents good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations IAW current Army and DoD policy including annual influenza vaccinations.
  • Failure to achieve desired training with demonstrated competence may result in separation.
  • Position requires working with computers, peripherals, software and common hand and electrical tools.

Qualifications

Candidates must:
1. Be able to communicate in English (verbal and written)
2. Be 18 years of age at time of employment..
3. Possess and maintain ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis.
4. Possess and maintain health and freedom from communicable disease.
5. Possess knowledge and demonstrated skill in Microsoft Windows and Applications using the Internet (email, searching, web page design) and network computing.
6. Possess a professional certificate or higher related to computer science/information technology, or 24 months of experience working in the related field.
