Summary

This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Office of the Chief Operating Officer. As an Archives Technician, you will serve as an Archives Technician in one of four reference cores of the National Personnel Records Center's Military Personnel Records facility. Incumbent performs numerous activities involved in the processing of file level reference requests of military personnel records from a variety of customers.

Duties

Help

As an Archives Technician, you will:

  • Review incoming reference requests in a variety of formats and inputs data using an automated customer relations management software tool. Apply understanding of service branches and unique identifiers to populate data with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Communicate with various customers by telephone or email to clarify a request or obtain additional information which may facilitate a response.
  • Facilitate the workflow on each team by distributing records, retrieving completed work and routing records and mail to the appropriate business area.
  • Prepare standard forms to correct service record entries. A high degree of accuracy is required.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.   • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

You must have one year of general experience which includes progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

OR

2 years of education above high school.

OR

Combination of general experience and education.
