This position is established in the Littoral & Strike Warfare Department and the incumbent serves as an Information Technology Specialist (Systems Administration) and Subject Matter Expert for shipboard and land-based networks, Information Technology (IT) systems, and software. The work of this position includes analyzing, managing, or performing work necessary to plan, design, develop, acquire, document, test, implement, integrate, maintain, or modify computer software, hardware, or network systems. Work involves computer and network systems used in the automated acquisition, storage, manipulation, management, movement, control, display, switching interchange, transmission, or reception of information used in shipboard weapon systems or shore-based applications. This work is accomplished using computers, peripheral equipment, displays, software, firmware, networks, storage systems, and other related IT resources. Work may involve assisting in the analysis of IT processes or problems and the design or sustainment support of systems for accomplishment of work through application of computer technology using various computer languages and operating systems. The incumbent shall support the requirements of a complex matrix organization, supporting various sponsor driven requirements with the goal of developing IT tools that can be leveraged across organizational boundaries. NSWC PHD requires continuous visibility into emerging technologies, seeking more efficient and effective ways of accomplishing both fleet support mission and business operations tasking. A systems approach to an integrated IT architecture infrastructure, operating in a Navy accredited Network environment is the driving imperative in all applications and considerations. The scope of the effort also includes sustaining compliance with applicable Department of the Navy (DON) cybersecurity policies. The position requires project planning and execution, which results in the timely accomplishment of the overall assignment. The incumbent may serve as the NSWC PHD technical representative at land based system integration and test facilities, contractor facilities, aboard ship, and various Department of Defense organizations

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent at the GS-11/12 equivalent in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as an n Information Technology Specialist (Systems Administration). Education

Education can be substituted for experience as follow:

GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
