    Summary

    This position is in the Office of Inspector General, Office of Special Investigations (OSI), which is responsible for conducting DOL employee integrity and related investigations, as well as special investigative and oversight assignments as designated by the Deputy Inspector General or the Supervisory Criminal Investigator. OSI investigates allegations of fraud, misconduct, waste, abuse, and mismanagement involving OIG and DOL employees.

    Responsibilities

    Conducts OIG and DOL employee integrity investigations of a most sensitive nature, with significant impact on OIG and Departmental programs. Investigations may be particularly complex and sensitive, and require high-level attention and coordination with senior level DOL and OIG officials, which arise during employee integrity investigations.

    Determines, in conjunction with the supervisor, scope of investigations, techniques to be employed and shares technical responsibility for the results of investigations. Participates in the development and preparation of full documentation necessary for prospective action.

    Reviews and evaluates operational plans and keeps abreast of and maintains an overview of investigative programs in assigned area to ensure consistency of approach, proper technical guidance, training, and assistance in complex and/or unusual investigative matters.

    Investigates or otherwise addresses special assignments related to the OIG’s oversight responsibilities within DOL.

    Develops, establishes and maintains liaison with investigative units of other Federal agencies, Department of Labor agencies, and State and Local representatives to inform them of criminal and civil investigative efforts.
