    Responsibilities

    The incumbent serves as Auditor, working either alone or as a team member, planning and conducting financial, economy and efficiency, and program audits, and audit follow-up of Department of Commerce programs and activities.

    The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

    • Participates in developing audit guides/programs covering highly complex functions of a major Department function or multi-million activity or develops segments of audit guides/programs for highly complex agency-wide or major corporation audits. 
    • Briefs the audit manager on the progress of audits and identifies problems such as the need to expand scope and commit additional resources.
    • Identifies and/or approves additional areas to be reviewed that surface in the course of the audit.
    • Participates in the preparation of finding outlines and completes assigned areas of audit reports.
    • Serves as advisor to audit management on audit-related issues and audit liaison responsibilities.

    Occasional travel - The employee is required to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station.
