Duties

Help
  • Design, develop, implement and operate digital computer systems.
  • Write software and hardware specifications to accomplish technical support tasks.
  • Analyze computations and output data to verify the accuracy of computer software and the compliance of hardware operations with design specifications.
  • Consult with ATC government and contractor personnel to exchange technical information for real-time data processing projects.

  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance, or access, for duration of employment.
  • Incumbent must possess, or obtain within 24 months, a LEVEL II certification in the acquisition career field of Test and Evaluation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Incumbent must be able to travel away from the normal duty station up to 25% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Basic Requirement for Computer Scientist:

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in computer science or bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

One year of specialized experience at the NH-02 (GS-11) level or equivalent grade pay band in the federal service which includes work that involves: 1.) Providing technical input for the design, integration and implementation of software applications. AND 2.) Conducting test and evaluation for software and performance to certify requirements. AND 3.) Develop hardware/software specifications.
