As a Supervisory Government Information Specialist, you will be responsible for planning and executing Freedom of Information and Privacy Act (FOIA/PA) diverse special projects and program responsibilities for the Assistant Director in support of Executive Office for United States Attorneys (EOUSA) and the U.S. Attorneys Offices, including such matters as: analyzing administrative support systems, e.g., budget, procurement, support services, communications, automation support, and personnel, and making recommendations that will promote improved efficiency and effectiveness. You will supervise the paralegal staff responsible for providing a wide range of legal support services. Typical work assignments will include:

  • Serve as subject matter expert on a wide variety of key initiatives by examining the legal and policy requirements of FOIA/PA work and activities.
  • Provide policy analysis on improving program coordination, enhancing information sharing and collaboration and identifying statutory, regulatory and policy limitations.
  • Develop recommendations to promote improvements in service delivery and program analysis while ensuring adherence to all applicable privacy and confidentiality requirements.
  • Provide input and work with EOUSA staff on various national conferences, including but not limited to the U.S. Attorneys' Conference and FOIA/PA Contacts Conference.
  • Serve as a mentor for new FOIA Contacts to provide expert guidance and technical support in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities.
  • Develop performance standards and evaluate work performance of subordinates.
  • Identify developmental and training needs of employees, provide or arrange for needed development and training.

  • If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.

Qualifications

GS-14: Applicant must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in Federal service processing complex Freedom of Information and Privacy Act (FOIA/PA) requests, assist in defending FOIA/PA litigation, conduct training and provide FOIA/PA program guidance and leadership.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.
