Duties

Help

The incumbent will serve as a Administrative Support Specialist providing support and assistance to the Assistant Inspector General for Management and Administration (AIGMA), Director of Human Resources (HR), Director of Administrative Resources Services (ARS), and staff in carrying out and supporting the administrative and program management functions of the organization.  The incumbent will be responsible for compiling and organizing essential information and materials for the AIGMA in advance of meetings, and ensuring that senior officials are briefed on matters to be discussed and considered before scheduled meetings; responding to inquiries and administrative problems brought to the office by members of the staff, other OIG organizations, or external organizations and individuals; preparing correspondence, reports, and other written materials on routine or assigned issues; researching, compiling, reviewing, and organizing materials in order to develop materials and reports; receiving and screening incoming telephone calls and visitors; escorting visiting officials to meeting locations; receiving  and reviewing all incoming mail, distributing accordingly; assisting in performing and supporting special projects and initiatives pertaining to administrative and program support functions on behalf of the AIGMA.

Applicants must have at least 52 weeks of service equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position.

Appointment to this position may be subject to successful completion of a 1-year probationary period.

Qualifications

Applicants may qualify for this position based on a combination of education or specialized experience. Applicants must possess 1) a masters degree, or 2) two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to an LL.B. or J.D., ll years of graduate education, or 3) one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level. Education completed in foreign colleges and universities may be used if the institution has been accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education.
