Summary

You will serve as a Supervisory Technician in the Explosives and Energetics Division of NAVSURFWARCEN IHEODTECHDIV.

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-11 and GS-12.

Duties

Help
  • You will be responsible for supervising technicians and various federal wage schedule employees in the Explosives and Energetics Operations Branch.
  • You will plan for the distribution of workload including assignment of projects to subordinate technicians and explosive operators.
  • You will ensure proper training and cross-training of subordinates and verify proper qualification and certification of employees.
  • You will develop and/or improve processes for propellant/explosive mixing, casting, preparation of hardware, post-cure, disassembly, motor load and pack out.
  • You will establish, test, and evaluate procedures to optimize processes and records, and will review and communicate findings to the engineering staff and supervisors.
  • You will work with engineers and technicians on the resolution of problems associated with the design and adaption of process equipment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-03 (GS-09/10 equivalent) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing or overseeing propellant or explosive plant operations, manufacturing or mixing of propellants and explosives to ensure compliance with explosive safety or technical requirements.
