Qualifications

Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. The specialized experience requirements for this position are:
Qualifying experience for GS-9 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-8 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience performing restoration, ecological research and monitoring projects; collecting and processing vegetation and soil field samples; and keeping records and maintaining experimental data.

Education: Two full years of graduate level education or a Master's degree, if directly related to the position. Related degrees may include Environmental Science, Soil Science, Botany, Biology, Natural Resources Management, Ecology, Plant Science, Wildlife, and Range Science.

A combination of education and experience as described above.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work involves regular and recurring moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working outdoors in hot (100°F), cold (30°F) and windy conditions in remote locations without cell service, extensive travel throughout southern New Mexico (one to four hours one way) over rough roads, hiking in inclement weather carrying equipment, food and water. The employee is required to use protective clothing such as gowns, coats, boots, goggles, hats, gloves.
