This is a full-time position where the incumbent may be required to work uncommon hours to accommodate the mission.

Help

The primary purpose of this position is to plan, direct, supervise, and train athletes in order to administer physical fitness programs using outcome-driven and evidenced-based behavior-change theories to effectively evaluate physical fitness levels, reduce potential injuries and improve mission readiness.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
A Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology/Kinesiology/Exercise Science or a closely related field focusing on the knowledge of the physiological and psychological factors of physical training and motor control is highly preferred. Must be able to apply sound bio-mechanical principles and proper exercise modifications to training protocols for developing the skills and teaching the techniques necessary for members to maintain a high performance athletic ability. Certifications in high intensity functional training protocols such as Certified CrossFit Trainer/Certified CrossFit Coach are highly desirable. Two years of experience in related field with certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), and Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) are highly desirable.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
