Duties

Help
  • You will be the subject matter expert regarding all facets of range policy, directives, publications, memorandums, letters of agreement or letters of understanding, and media associated with the Fallon Range Training Complex
  • You will utilize the Geographic Information System (GIS) to access the Weapons Danger Zone (WDZ) and Surface Danger Zone (SDZ) weapon footprint development and risk management tools
  • You will determine operational safety and suitability of requested weapons capabilities
  • You will work with the Range Safety Manager to ensure that weapon training profiles contain all live fire and air-to-surface released ordnance and ensure that all weapons or ordnance activities remain within Navy range boundaries
  • You will develop plans for range targets and range target complexes that meet fleet training requirements

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: reviewing and recommending improvements to range-related publications, doctrine and media (e.g., Range Operations Manual, aircrew in-flight guide, range standard operating procedures (SOP), range procedure memorandums, aircrew information and safety briefings, or range-related maps) in order to ensure the safe conduct of weapons training operations and weapon employment.
