About the position:
This position will be assigned to the Fairchild Inn on Fairchild AFB, WA.

This is a Regular Part-time position with a minimum of 20hrs and a maximum of 34hrs per week.

This position involves continuous walking, standing, bending, reaching, or turning. Use power tools and equipment such as hammers, saws, drills, chisels, paintbrushes, spray guns, wire brushes, and rollers. Frequently lifts and moves equipment, furniture, components and objects weighing up to 50lbs.

Duties

Help

  • Performs minor construction and repair on existing structures involving standard measurements, specifications. Instructions, and basic shop mathematics. Installs exterior and interior trim using preplanned materials, such as baseboards, and molding. Replaces broken or missing acoustical ceiling tile, broken door and window trim, window screens, stairway steps, wooden porches, door jambs, and other damaged wood components.
  • Prepares wood and metal surfaces to be painted, mixes and prepares coating material, and applies coating materials (for example, paints, varnishes, and shellacs). Prepares surfaces by scraping, wire brushing, masking, spackling, and sand surfacing.
  • Makes minor electrical repairs by replacing fixtures, switches, sockets, stove burners, electrical cords, bulbs, and fluorescent fixtures.
  • Uses and maintains tools and equipment. Utilizes hand and power tools such as, drills, power saws, routers, standard hand tools, straight edge, chalk line, tapes, rules, caulking irons, pipe wrenches, roller, putty knives, and paint brushes.
  • Moves and arranges furniture as directed; performs snow removal operations; cleans carpets; and assists in linen duties as directed.

Qualifying Experience:

Must have experience or training in building maintenance in the areas of carpentry, plumbing and electrical that demonstrates the ability to perform minor repairs using common hand and power tools. Must be able to follow oral and/or written instructions.


Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
