Duties

Help
  • You will serve as a Radiographer for EXU-1 and perform detailed radiographic examinations on weapons systems/subsystems and ordnance.
  • You will ensure that all radiography operations comply with DoN and other federal regulations (i.e. RAD-010) as well as all local Command instructions and Radiation Safety Operating Procedures (RSOP's)
  • You will be responsible for the development and writing of all RSOP's for command radiography equipment
  • You will provide technical assistance on all matters related to Command radiographic operations.
  • You will act as a technical expert in the exploitation and comparative analysis of domestic and foreign munitions
  • You will provide consultative services to the joint-services Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) community, Defense Intelligence Agency and all subordinate intelligence agencies and service research laboratories;

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will need to obtain and maintain certification in the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Industrial Radiography and Radiation Safety Personnel (IRRSP) Program.
  • You will need to obtain and maintain qualification as Assistant Radiation Safety Officer (ARSO) in order to perform radiography operations while forward deployed and to assist the Command Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) as needed.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-03 (GS-09/10 equivalency) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing technical engineering support services to perform industrial radiographic examinations on collected and/or recovered material.

Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems.

Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as:

  • Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes.
  • Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated.
