    The position is located at the Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC) Collection Management Facility, in Richmond, VA. You will serve as a MUSEUM TECHNICIAN (HISTORY) in the CURATOR BRANCH, COLLECTION MANAGEMENT DIVISION of NHHC. You will work as part of a team of museum professionals documenting, researching, cataloging and rehousing artifact collections. You will perform duties including inventorying, facility needs and special projects.

    • You will assist the Collections Manager in conducting inventories of the artifact collection in storage as well as implementing inventory controls.
    • You will execute necessary artifact location and record updates within the Department of the Navy's Heritage Asset Management System (DONHAMS/EMu).
    • You will perform a variety of routine and special duties to support the facilities maintenance tasks in support of the Collection Management Facility.
    • You will take receipt of and unpack artifact collections and/or individual artifacts.
    • You will verify invoices and related shipping records, storing, cleaning, photographing and labeling of artifacts.
    • You will prepare collections and artifacts for storage and shipment, placing items in storage location, and assisting with implementing loans under the direction of the supervisor.
    • You will answer general inquiries on historic artifacts in the collection and support the supervisor's research work by performing routine review of documents which include accession records, technical publications, books and manuscripts.
