Summary

The Supervisory Auditor, located in the Office of Audits and Evaluations (OAE), reports to the Strategic Initiatives and Risk Division Director and supports the Office and Division’s mission by performing operations and assignments related to strategic initiatives and risk program activities, functions, and performance, as well as policy and procedures, and administrative functions.
As a Supervisory Auditor, you will: - Lead the planning and timely execution of division audit-support, planning, strategic or risk-based initiatives, in addition to personnel actions and organization design issues. - Oversee and direct the efforts of assigned division staff, and collectively develops and presents a variety of complex technical documents such as operational plans, review programs, briefings and reports that explain project and program review methodologies, define testing requirements, includes projections of errors or monetary amounts; or offers qualitative or quantitative assessments. - Scope and implement OAE’s strategic and risk-based initiatives, including the development and implementation of elements of the strategic plan and long-range strategic initiatives, mechanisms, and tools/methodologies, as determined by the Assistant Inspector General and Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Audits and Evaluations and assigned by the Division Director. - Prepare background materials and develop proposed action strategies in support of OAE’s efforts to advance organizational interests relative to identified trends and emerging issues.

Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Evaluating, summarizing, and preparing reports on risks and operational weaknesses; AND - Communicating issues, justifying conclusions reached, and recommending courses of actions in an audit environment; AND - Performing formal and informal briefings and presentations of a technical nature to high-level management defending a position or to gain support from the audience.
Education
Degree: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in accounting or in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
OR Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following: Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law; A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.
