Summary

Duties

Help
  • Plans, organizes, and conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis of structured and unstructured data
  • Reviews investigative reports and supporting documentation to uncover relationships between investigations
  • Acquires and maintains advanced search and reporting tools necessary to identify, extract, analyze, and report data
  • Provides recommendations to management regarding improved business and management practices for application to agency programs or operations
  • Reviews information systems for quality assurance purposes
  • Knowledge of Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS) automated information systems and program analysis and reporting requirements, provides input to the design, development, and implementation of system upgrades
  • Trains users on the structure and proper use of DCIS automated information systems and investigative reporting requirements
  • Based on issues identified during analyses and/or inspections, recommends changes to applicable portions of the DCIS Special Agents Manual
  • Develops database queries using structured query language and logical statements to formulate data structures and retrieval within relational databases
  • The duties described reflect the full performance level

  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
  • Position has been designated as Critical Sensitive; incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance.
  • The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.
  • The incumbent will be required to serve a two year probationary period.

Qualifications

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-09) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

GS-11 Specialized experience is defined as: collecting, analyzing, and reporting results concerning investigative activities and programs; verifying data integrity and validating results reported in the case management and related information systems; assisting in the design, development, operation, and troubleshooting of case management and related systems; assisting with administration and user training relative to case management and related systems; and assisting with internal inspections, development of reporting policies and supports the regulatory reporting requirements all under the guidance of a senior level analyst.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: To qualify for this position, you must have (1) experience developing database queries using structured query language (SQL) and logical statements to formulate data structures and retrieval within relational databases and (2) experience designing database solutions for development to meet mandated agency reporting requirements.

PASS/FAIL COURSES: If more that 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specialized in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
