Duties

Help
  • You will Develop communication strategies that inform and educate internal and external audiences on the Navy's mission, programs, policies and objectives.
  • You will ensure communication products and efforts deliver intended messages to desired audiences.
  • You will develop public affairs guidance, Navy themes and messages.
  • You will conduct communication analysis to ensure synchronizing of communication efforts with lower echelon commands.
  • You will plan, organize and direct strategic information programs in support of major Navy missions, policies, projects, programs, and strategies.
  • You will use a wide range of communications media.
  • You will asses potential controversial issues having national and/or international impact.
  • You will design approaches to address particular communications problems in various program areas.
  • You will analyze trends in internal and external public opinion to determine Public Affairs/communication program needs.
  • You will assess impact of proposed and/or ongoing Navy activities.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: developing communication strategies to inform and educate internal and external audiences on an organization's mission, programs, policies, and objectives; conducting research to determine Public Affairs/communication program needs using a wide range of communications media; AND evaluating effectiveness of communications initiatives and recommending methods of improvement.

GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing trends in internal and external audiences to determine Public Affairs/communication program needs using a wide range of communications media; conducting research to evaluate the effectiveness of communication initiatives, and recommend course of action.
