    Summary

    This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of the Actuary (OACT), Parts C and D Actuarial Group (PCDAG) .

    As a Actuary, GS-1510-13, you will contribute to PCDAG's mission to provide Agency decision makers with data and information for making major decisions about the Medicare program.

    Responsibilities

    • Provides significant input for the preparation of the annual Medicare Trustees Reports.
    • Develops estimation methodologies and models for historical and projected program operations and for proposed program changes.
    • Provides authoritative actuarial consultation and advice on a wide range of program issues to other CMS and Government components, Congressional staff, professional organizations, and other health policy groups.
    • Prepares cost estimates and support material for the Medicare program for each stage of the budget cycle for use in the President's budget.
    • Trains CMS and private sector personnel on bid filing instructions and procedures required of Medicare contractors.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel up to 10% for this position.
