Duties

Help
  • Create a comprehensive family-centered assessment by using Routine-Based Interview (RBI) techniques, resources required, needed priorities, and concerns of the family.
  • Provide written and oral reports of developmental evaluations, family outcomes and services to team members and families utilizing the required forms and format.
  • Monitor child's performance toward measurable Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) outcomes making appropriate modifications to IFSP as needed.
  • Inform families of their rights under the Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to include family rights and procedural safeguards.

  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
  • This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so and periodic re-verification check of multiple agency records.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education/experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, to include the basic requirement outlined in the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1701, General Education and Training Series.

Basic Requirement for GS-1701 Positions: A Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, such as child development or early childhood education.

OR

Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in child development or early childhood education, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using comprehensive standardized tools to evaluate and assess infants and toddlers with complicated developmental delays AND develop an Individualized Family Service Plan with the family AND provide home based Early Intervention Services to special needs infants and/or toddlers and their families.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

For this provision to apply to employees already overseas, the selected individual would have to require a permanent change of station move and would have to be selected as a result of a recruitment effort that had been extended outside of the overseas command involved.
