This position serves as a Program Support clerk working in Voluntary Service and represents the facility in greeting visitors as they enter and leave the facility, directing individuals to the appropriate service or office, and giving and/or clarifying information in order to help the Veteran or visitor access the appropriate service.Learn more about this agency
- Directs Veterans, family members and other visitors to the appropriate office or service within the facility.
- Provides information and assists in problem-solving about the organization, its functions, activities and personnel.
- Works cooperatively with the Hospitality/Concierge team for the designated work area and works with all team members to create caring environments.
- Responds to questions from patients concerning services and provides appropriate pamphlets or written information when available.
- Obtains information using computer-based systems such as VISTA, CPRS, Outlook and the internet.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
- General Experience: You must have one year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. OR,
- Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have two (2) years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. When assisting the Veteran or family member with way-finding throughout the medical center and inpatient care areas some walking is required. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; or driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
