Help

As a Program Analyst (Recent Graduate) with the OIG, you will serve as a team member on an assigned audit or review and assist senior employees in analysis, interviews, writing, auditing or reviewing results and conducting complex reviews or evaluations across a myriad of DOJ programs. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating and reviewing surveys and assisting audit survey and verification program development. Applicants hired under this announcement may also be assigned to review small programs or activities of limited scope under supervisory guidance. Applicants also must be able to perform research, conduct interviews, and analyze documents and other evidence in both a team environment and individually. On larger reviews, the candidate will assist senior employees by gathering and analyzing data and making recommendations based on such analysis.
  • Composing work papers and summaries for reviews, performing data analysis, and developing draft finding sheets that clearly identify the logic flow. The Program Analyst submits all work to the electronic work system so that it can be used and reviewed by supervisors and other team members.
  • Supporting review teams and developing productive and professional relationships through engaging in collaboration and coordination with internal and external parties.
  • Developing skills, testing abilities, and acquiring the knowledge to become well versed in evaluation and review techniques, DOJ programs, legislation and regulations, and industry practices.
  • Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progresses.

Recent Graduate Program Eligibility

  • To meet these requirements, you must have obtained a qualifying associate's, bachelor's, master's, professional, doctoral, or technical/vocational degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the previous 2 years.
  • Preference-eligible veterans who have been precluded from applying due to their military service obligation have as much as 6 years after acquiring a qualifying degree to apply.
In addition to the Recent Graduate Eligibility, applicants must have the following specialized experience and/or directly related education or a combination:

At the GS-9 level, applicants must have a master's or equivalent degree or 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent degree, or 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level, or a combination education and specialized experience. Examples of specialized experience include but are not limited to: researching and assessing complex programs or subject matters, analyzing data, establishing program or project milestones or activities, and substantially contributing on a team to identify, compile, communicate, and defend the results of such research and analysis.

  7. Ability to Communicate in Writing- Conveying programmatic information in written form, such as statements of audit findings, conclusions, summaries, and recommendations.
