Duties

Help
  • You will serve as the Housing Division Chief and the Residential Communities Initiative (RCI) Manager for the Directorate of Public Works located at Fort Carson, CO.
  • You will serve as advisor to the Directorate of Public Works (DPW) and the Garrison commander to address and resolve installation, local community, state and private sector official issues for on-post, off-post and privatized housing initiatives.
  • You will participate in problem-solving conferences and seminars with other experts in military housing management to provide insights based on expertise in management of a complex and diverse installation program.
  • You will develop overall housing management plans for both privatized and traditional housing functions to support Family and Unaccompanied Housing, centralized barracks management, and off-post rental and furnishings management on Fort Carson.
  • You will direct formulation of annual and long-range work plans to justify contract and management support for housing management programs.
  • You will monitor the management of annual fiscal programs and contract oversight for establishing funding priorities for Army Family Housing and Operations and Maintenance Army appropriations, and approve financial work plans for execution.
  • As a supervisor, you will provide guidance to subordinate managers of family and unaccompanied housing programs in development of plans and procedures.
  • You will supervise and direct work of division personnel and establish priorities.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized experience is defined as: knowledge of federal, state, local, and agency housing policies and procedures; developing solutions to various soldier and family housing issues; developing housing plans for a large installation; providing oversight on all aspects of the housing management program(s); and representing the housing office at a variety of meetings and/or briefings.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).

Additional information

  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
