    Summary

    This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Cartographic Branch. As a DIGITIAL IMAGING SPECIALIST, you will perform duties associated with the digitization and reformatting of original archival records for preservation and access, managing digital files, and creating technical, administrative,and archival metadata.

    Responsibilities

    The following are the duties of this position at the GS-11. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

    -Work with original archival records such as textual documents, photographs, maps and technical drawings, and historical artifacts.
    -Reformat original archival records using digital imaging technology to produce image files.
    -Create administrative and technical metadata and create descriptive metadata in accordance with archival standards.
    -Utilize a broad range of hardware and software applications for scanning, calibration, image processing, hardcopy output, and file storage/management in order to achieve a desired result.
