Duties

Help

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-09. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- Determine daily staffing needs based on backlog and incoming agency workload projections.
- Inform higher level supervisor of anticipated vacancies, increases in workload, or other circumstances requiring replacement or additional staff.
- Analyze the organizational structure and procedures of the operation for possible improvements to the workflow and methods within the Region.
- Maintain operation records and reports, and furnishes this information as required or requested.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For the GS-09, you must have one year specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level that is directly related to the position and has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is:

Leading a small component of a team, program, or project; AND
Communicating with customers internally and externally to provide information and resolve issues; AND
Applying and researching rules, regulations, policies, and practices to gather facts, and draw conclusions and/or make recommendations.

OR

You may qualify with a Master's or equivalent degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work OR a LL.B or J.D, in a field related to this position; (attach a copy of your transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit)

OR

You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours may be combined with experience. Credit will be given for partial experience so long as specialized experience and or required education or training meet or exceed the minimum level required for the position. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.



For the GS-07, you must have one year specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level that is directly related to the position and has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is:

Applying regulations and policies to accomplish work assignments; AND
Operating office automation programs for such tasks as maintaining database information and preparing reports.

OR

You may qualify by education (attach a copy of your transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit): One full year of graduate level education; or Superior Academic Achievement based on a bachelors degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class); grade point average (3.0/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major), or election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society.

OR

You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.

Education

The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
