The Compliance Assistance Specialist position provides advice and assistance to businesses of all sizes, labor affiliates and stakeholders, achieving OSHA's compliance assistance goals through effective outreach, training, education, and information sharing. This position requires expert level advice and training on OSHA regulations and programs. The incumbent will develop a comprehensive area office compliance assistance plan and will coordinate compliance assistance work with the Area Office management, supporting team initiatives in areas such as but not limited to external/internal training programs and small businesses. Incumbent serves as a liaison to various stakeholders and other strategic initiatives informing the Area Office of the activities. Incumbent coordinates with regional managers and subject matter specialists assuring work efforts/products are consistent with agency and regional policy and goals. Plans, develops and implements the Area Office external training/education programs, personally conducting outreach sessions on new standards, directives, and other topics of current interest, independently and in conjunction with stakeholders. Explains OSHA national programs and policies to the public, associations, and any other affected entities/stakeholders. Promotes voluntary compliance; keeps public aware of changes in the safety and occupational health field; makes speeches; serves on seminar and conference panels; and safety and health councils. Fosters creative partnerships with all stakeholders, other federal agencies, insurance companies, safety and health professional groups, trade associations, and others interested in improving workplace conditions, in promoting safety and occupational health programs, identifying hazards and developing sources for hazard identification data. Operates a motor vehicle to travel to complete assignments in the fields.
