Summary

This position is located in the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG). The incumbent of this position will work within the Office of the Deputy Inspector General of Investigations (DIG INV), Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS), Southeast Field Office.

Duties

Help
  • Conducts preliminary and general investigative research on entities and persons of interest within local, state, and federal government databases and commercial databases.
  • Researches, analyzes, interprets, and evaluates investigative and administrative data to support complex criminal investigations and enhance procedures.
  • Enters and uploads pertinent information and adjudicative actions into the Case Management System (CMS).
  • Receives, records, tracks, and organizes investigative documents, evidence, and confidential information.
  • Ensures criminal history disposition documents and forms are accurate, complete, and promptly uploaded into the CMS, and forwarded to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

  • Position has been designated as Security designation level such as Non Critical Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DOD OIG.
  • Current DOD civilian employees are not required to submit to drug testing if moving from one Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another with no break in service, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis.
  • If you have not previously completed a probationary period with the Federal government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a two-year probationary period.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualification requirements as noted below.

GS-07 Specialized Experience: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-05 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level. Specialized experience includes providing administrative support to office staff using interpersonal communication, in person and telephonically; establishing and maintaining office files; using office computer software programs, including Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of, and skill in applying analytical, investigative, problem solving and case management concepts, principles, methodologies and practices to detect illegal activity and support or assist with complex criminal investigations, compliance inspections and other law enforcement activities. The position requires knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures associated with federal law enforcement operations and investigations.

A combination of education and experience as listed above.

GS-09 Specialized Experience: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-07 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level. Specialized experience is experience that includes knowledge of, and skill in applying analytical, investigative, problem solving and case management concepts, principles, methodologies and practices to detect illegal activity and support and conduct complex criminal investigations, compliance inspections and other law enforcement activities. The position requires knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures associated with federal law enforcement operations and investigations.

If you are using Education to qualify for this position, a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
