    Summary

    You will serve as a Physical Science Technician in the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine (SOM), Department of Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics (PMB) of UNIF SRVS UNI OF THE HLTH SCI.

    Responsibilities

    • You will perform user maintenance and calibration of laboratory analytical equipment.
    • You will perform common environmental health science calculations.
    • You will perform analysis and interpret results of industrial hygiene and environmental samples.
    • You will provide analytical and administrative support of student research and laboratories to support Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics (PMB) educational programs.
    • You will develop new analytical methods for environmental/occupational health projects.
    • You will perform analysis and interpret results of industrial hygiene and environmental samples.
    • You will identify significant deviations or unusual events during analysis and/or with test results and determine methods to address.
    • You will analyze data by applying, evaluating, and interpreting appropriate statistical tests.
    • You will manage hazardous materials/wastes in accordance with appropriate regulations.
    • You will develop and implement a Chemical Hygiene Plan.
    • You will coordinate the proper disposal of waste chemicals.
    • You will utilize the principles of analytical chemistry and industrial hygiene to develop and lead laboratory sessions for students.
    • You will develop and lead student laboratory-based practicums.
    • You will develop and validate new sampling methods for environmental/occupational health projects.
    • You will perform safety training for all users of the lab.
