    If selected for this position, you will advise the NIEHS Scientific Director, Division of the National Toxicology Program (DNTP) Scientific Director, NIEHS leadership, and other experts throughout the institute on a variety of complex, unique, and/or sensitive situations and issues in scientific computing and science IT. Specific duties include:

    Learn more about this agency


    • Provide a vision for scientific computing and the extraction and use of knowledge from data generated by and relevant to NIEHS research.
    • Coordinate scientific computing across NIH and other federal agencies/institutions. Foster new, effective technologies and procedures for scientific computing for manipulating and interpreting large and complex data.
    • Assist with the application of new methods and technologies emerging from the field of data science including ?big data?.
    • Advance the use of cloud and distributed computing approaches.
    • Ensure that there are outstanding training and educational programs around scientific computing available to NIEHS scientists.
    • Foster partnership with the CIO and other IT leaders to ensure that NIEHS IT assets are planned for and deployed to meet needs.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.
