You will develop, design, direct and teach undergraduate introductory, intermediate and advanced language courses in Russian
You will demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate education and expertise in instructional technology.
You will lead and guide student research and provide academic counseling and mentorship to the undergraduate students (cadets) at the United States Military Academy.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position may have a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 20% of the time.

This is a full-time academic tenure-track position with an initial term appointment in the excepted service starting on or about July 6, 2020 and not to exceed 3 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond the initial term. Faculty who attain the academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor may have the opportunity to non-competitively receive a permanent appointment in the excepted service. As a term employee you will be eligible for medical insurance, life insurance, retirement, dental and vision. You will be eligible to earn annual leave and sick leave.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Applicants will be evaluated on the following factors: 1) Academic Accomplishment in Russian (a Ph.D. is preferred); 2) Native or near native fluency in Russian and English; 3) Demonstrated ability to teach at the college level (a background in Russian literature instruction is preferred); and 4) Ability to mentor undergraduate students and support student activities inside and outside the classroom.
