The OIG is searching for a motivated, innovative HR professional with extensive experience in multiple HR disciplines to become the Assistant Director of its Human Resources Division. The HR Division is a small, full-service office of 10 employees who provide the complete range of HR support to OIG’s approximately 270 employees.
This position reports to OIG’s Director of Human Resources and will assist with the direction and oversight of OIG’s human resources program. If selected, you will supervise a staff of HR professionals responsible for staffing, classification, personnel security, compensation, and HR systems functions. This position offers a unique, challenging opportunity for someone with a strong, well-rounded background in multiple HR disciplines. Through supervised staff, you will be responsible for:
The best qualified candidates for this position will have extensive backgrounds in staffing and classification, with demonstrated experience providing complex recruitment and classification services to a variety of customers. To be successful in this position, you must demonstrate a high commitment to quality customer service, an ability to mentor and train supervised staff, and skill in managing a multi-functional HR environment. Experience in personnel security and/or HR information systems is desirable but not required.
Probationary Period: If selected, you will be subject to a one-year supervisory probationary period, unless you have already completed one.
To qualify for this position, you must have one year of experience independently performing complex staffing and classification functions under Title 5 of the U.S. Code. This experience must have included independently performing the following responsibilities on a recurring basis: preparing job analyses and certificates under delegated examining and merit promotion procedures; posting vacancy announcements to USAJOBS using an automated staffing system, advising hiring officials on the use of compensation incentives (such as recruitment and relocation incentives); classifying General Schedule positions using OPM classification standards to identify title, series, and grade levels; and supervising, leading, or mentoring employees in staffing and classification responsibilities. This experience must have been performed at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level (or higher) if performed in the federal government.
CTAP/ICTAP Eligibility: Individuals claiming priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be rated "well qualified" using category rating procedures described below.
