About the Position: This position is located at the US Army Installation Management Command, Parks Reserve Forces Training Area, Public Affairs Office, Dublin, CA. (Camp Parks is a sub-installation of Fort Hunter Liggett)
Located 40 miles southeast of San Francisco, 20 miles southeast of Oakland, and 30 miles northeast of San Jose at the junction of Interstate Highways 580 and 680. Employees are eligible for the Mass Transportation Fringe Benefit Program.

Duties

Help
  • Serve as the official spokesperson, responding to media queries.
  • Conduct a community relations program, participating in community meetings to encourage public interest, support and understanding of the organization.
  • Analyze communication needs, concerns and attitudes of various stakeholders, formulating plans and policies to assure direct consideration of public information and public relations implications of planned actions.
  • Monitor social media to protect the Army, IMCOM, and Parks Reserve Forces Training Area brands and for relevant information to share, encourage, and formulate social media messages and responses.
  • Utilize visual methods (picture/video/infographic/etc.) to effectively communicate organizational capabilities and installation events.
  • Direct a positive internal and external information program to meet the various information needs in consonance with the overall mission and policies of the garrison.
  • Promote and maintain effective working relationships with representatives of government, members of Congress, civic organizations, other agencies, the media, and special interest groups.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves managing a community or public relations program; coordinating written, digital and verbal promotional, marketing or advertising activities; writing newspaper articles or other professional publications; preparing speeches or briefings; and advising others on public affairs matters.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
