This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Operations Coordination.
The primary purpose of this position is assess the productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of the Department's classified and unclassified continuity program, critical infrastructure program and/or continuity TT&E program, and/or the OPS continuity, emergency preparedness, and/or TT&E program(s) operations.
As a Emergency Management Specialist GS 0089 12/13, your typical work assignments may include:
- Providing expert knowledge of continuity of operations or emergency management planning, to include policies, plans, procedures, and SOPs;
- Providing logistical, analytical, and decision support on continuity of operations, continuity of government or emergency management;
- Managing daily operations in support of continuity of operations, continuity of government, emergency preparedness, disaster recovery, incident management, business resumption, or risk/impact analysis.
- Developing, implementing, and sustaining of the Department's classified and unclassified continuity and agency programs;
- Executing policies, plans, and procedures required for classified unclassified continuity missions to ensure continuity of the agencies leadership and headquarters 'critical functions during all hazards, threats, incidents, and emergencies.
- Serves as a senior member of inter-Department or Agency and intra-Department continuity, critical infrastructure, and/or emergency preparedness task forces, committees, workgroups, and/or planning teams.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

You qualify for the GS-12 grade level (starting salary $83,398) if you possess of the following:
- To qualify for the GS-12 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or private sector equivalent. For this position, specialized experience is defined as having the ability to: 1) Providing expert knowledge of continuity of operations or emergency management planning, to include policies, plans, procedures, and SOPs; 2) Providing logistical, analytical, and decision support on continuity of operations, continuity of government or emergency management; 3) Managing daily operations in support of continuity of operations, continuity of government, emergency preparedness, disaster recovery, incident management, business resumption, or risk/impact analysis.

For this position, specialized experience is defined as having the ability to: 1) Developing, implementing, and sustaining of the Department's classified and unclassified continuity and agency programs; 2) Executing policies, plans, and procedures required for classified unclassified continuity missions to ensure continuity of the agencies leadership and headquarters 'critical functions during all hazards, threats, incidents, and emergencies. 3) Serves as a senior member of inter-Department or Agency and intra-Department continuity, critical infrastructure, and/or emergency preparedness task forces, committees, workgroups, and/or planning teams.
