The DODIG - MISSION SUPPORT TEAM is responsible for the conduct and oversight of investigations into allegations against senior officials within the DoD. The division also conducts reviews, surveys, and studies, when required.
As a Special Assistant, GS-0301-14, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Assist the Director to develop and implement Executive Secretariat policy, guidance, procedures and training to ensure accurate, concise, coordinated and timely tasking, and processing of internal and external executive correspondence.
Provide direction to the OIG staff regarding operation, activities and long range planning of the Executive Secretariat to support the OIG components.
Serve as the subject matter expert and primary action officer for the implementation of DoD directives, instructions and manuals for written material.
Maintain awareness of DoD OIG priorities during the development and publishing of executive correspondence to the Department, Congress and other Executive branches of the Federal government.
Assist the Director in the development and management of short, mid and long range practices to improve OIG correspondence effectiveness with Congress, the Department and other Federal branches.
Prepare complex statistical reports to provide the Director with recommendations on long and short term courses of action to enhance Executive Secretariat operational capability.

Position has been designated as Critical Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
Current DoD civilian employees are not required to submit to drug testing if moving from one Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another with no break in service, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis.

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualification requirements as noted below.
Specialized Experience: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-13 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level. Specialized experience is defined as having ability to implement policy, guidance, procedures for correspondence management and train personnel to ensure accurate, concise, coordinated and timely internal and external executive correspondence. Ability to develop and manage short, mid and long range practices to improve correspondence effectiveness internal and external to an organization. Develop and deliver training, ensure components conformance to policy and procedures and maintain effective liaison with staff to ensure effective correspondence management. Ability to conduct various studies, in such areas as work flow measurements, problems or issues encountered, changes in policy and how it will affect the correspondence control program. Knowledge and experience with document management and tracking systems and the actions required to develop, implement and maintain such a system in a complex, diverse organization. Ability effectively write and edit correspondence and communicate changes in a concise manner that is clear.
