    Bureau of Global Public Affairs (GPA) GPA brings a world-class, 21st century communications operation to the Department of State and is the result of the merger of the Bureaus of Public Affairs (PA) and International Information Programs (IIP). GPA seeks to advance U.S. foreign policy priorities through effective and consistent communication with audiences around the globe. GPA serves the American people by effectively communicating American foreign policy worldwide, informing domestic audiences about U.S. foreign policy priorities and the value of diplomacy, and engaging foreign publics to enhance their understanding and support for the United States, our values, and policies.

    As a Student Trainee (Human Resources) GS-04, you will:

    • The student trainee will be assigned to work in one or more HR areas, and will be guided by other senior specialists to learn the following duties, gradually beginning to work individually.
    • Provides management with procedural and regulatory staffing assistance; identifies ways to aid in the improvement or enhancement of staffing and recruitment planning.
    • Assists with reviewing, preparing, and/or coordinating position classification requests.
    • Promotes internal and external training; reviews internal and external training.
    • Requests for approval; identifies career development resources for employees; assists in the development of individual development plans.
    • Responds to non controversial benefits questions; provides information necessary to help employees obtain available benefits.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.
