Basic Requirements

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria for the GS-7 grade level:
A. 52 weeks of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service utilizing basic knowledge of auditing and/or accounting principles and procedures; working as part of an auditing and/or accounting team; and accomplishing basic auditing and/or accounting data collection.
B. One year of graduate level education in accounting or in a related field such as business administration, finance or public administration. An academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. This determination is made based on normal course loads for a full year of study in the graduate program. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours will satisfy the one year of full-time study requirement. C. Having completed, or within 9 months of the closing date of this announcement will have completed bachelor's degree in accounting or directly related major and meet Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.). S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. (1) Class standing-Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses. (2) Grade-point average (G.P.A.)-Applicants must have a grade-point average of: 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.
