This position is located in General Services Administration, Office of Strategic Communication (OSC), in Washington, DC

As a Communication Specialist, you will be performing the following duties:

  • Develops, evaluates, and oversee the implementation of immediate, short- and long-range communication plans, employing the usage of project
    management principles. Coordinates with subject matter experts (SME) to determine and produce effective design and consistent audience appropriate communication vehicles, used to deliver guidance policy and customer information.
  • Advises on objectives, alternative strategies and resource requirements. Identifies emerging or potential problem areas and develops and advises on the implementation of solutions. Monitors progress towards meeting logistic plans and identifies the cause and impact of any delays or issues

  • Collaborates with others to develop internal and external communication goals (i.e., Senior Leadership, Directors, Branch Chiefs, all personnel, and external customers, etc.) to ensure objectives are achieved in the most efficient and timely manner; Utilizes oral and written communication skills to expertly communicate messages relating to agency initiatives, programs and achievements.

  •  Develops finished written products that articulate, interpret and explain highly complex important  programs, surveys and research findings. Writes and edits highly professional material, including formal presentations and communication materials for use by various staff.

The GS-13 salary range starts at $99,172 per year.  

To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or higher in the Federal service. 

Specialized experience is defined as experience developing and implementing internal and external communication plans, which include: newsletters, webinars, formal briefing papers, informational brochures, email notices and websites. Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions.

Relocation-related expenses are not approved and will be your responsibility.

  • Ability to assess the productivity, effectiveness and efficiency of the communication program
  • Ability to collaborate with others orally and in writing to develop communication goals for the purpose of identifying audiences for marketing efforts.
  • Ability to execute solutions to a variety of customer business and workplace needs
