Duties

Help
  • Searches, collects, and preserves information using automated recordkeeping tools, systems, and technologies.
  • Processes complex requests for sensitive information, including classified materials.
  • Perform detailed research projects in a broad range of current and legacy sources in direct support of court orders, official investigations, FOIA requests, litigation or other authorized requests for information.
  • Identifies approaches to improve the quality of metadata.
  • Develops and applies classification systems (e.g. lists. Trees, hierarchies, facets, system maps, folksonomy and database schemas) to improve organization, navigation and findability.
  • Develops and maintains enterprise search capabilities by improving mechanisms such as keyword based searching and semantic techniques.
  • Deploys and maintains the organization thesaurus to improve search and classification.
  • Modify standard library practices, precedents, and techniques to solve a variety of information access, dissemination, and preservation problems.
  • Manages and adapts precedents such as automating workflows and policies concerning the uploading of content and its cataloguing with descriptive and other metadata.
  • Identifies sources and strategy for content capture, identifies issues associated with sharing content across and outside the agency, determine effective document collaboration (e.g. workflow, audit trail, and version control).
  • Analyze and synthesize information to provide insights and advice to leaders to support business decisions.
  • Review content of agency contributors for completeness and compliance with system policies, incorporating best practices and the OIG unique requirements.
  • Collaborates with management, staff, end users, and other IT personnel to organize information.
  • Work with internal teams to facilitate use and support adoption of automated systems.
  • Provide instruction, instructional materials, and documentation for different user audiences to support efficiency in the use, findability, and ingestion of information.

Qualifications

For The GS-12:
Time in Grade: , Status applicants must have 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher in the Federal Service.

Basic Requirement: To qualify for this position, you must meet one of the basic requirements described below.
1. Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate study in library science in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor's degree;
OR
2. A total of at least 5 years of a combination of college-level education, training, and experience. To qualify on this basis, the applicant must establish conclusively that the education, training, and experience provided a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services.

AND

Specialized Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-11 if outside the Federal service, is required. Specialized experience is defined as cataloguing by associating metadata with electronic content. Enforces system policies, business rules or schemes so information is identifiable, retrievable and meet organizational compliance requirements. Performs detailed research utilizing broad range of information systems in response to authorized requests for information. Applies classification systems (e.g. lists. Trees, hierarchies, facets, system maps, folksonomy and database schemas) to electronic information.

For the GS-13:

Builds, revises and enforces system policies, business rules or schemes so large volumes of information is identifiable, mapped to records schedules, retrievable and meet organizational compliance requirements. Performs detailed research utilizing broad range of information systems in response to authorized requests for information. Develops or applies classification systems (e.g. lists. Trees, hierarchies, facets, system maps, folksonomy and database schemas) to electronic information to improve organization, navigation and findability. Collaborates with stakeholders or staff and makes recommendations to requestors to improve search results and expedite processing.
