1.Performs and records history and physical examinations and records data from clinic visits.
2.Evaluates, consults, develops diagnosis, and manages the primary care panel of patients assigned.
3.Enters progress notes in computerized medical record and completes workload documentation in a timely manner.
4. While history and physical exams will typically be conducted during the direct face-to-face appointment, Video telehealth (VVC, CVT) training is required. As appropriate, telehealth visits will be offered and completed to augment patient care.
5.Provides medical care encompassing acute and chronic medical conditions and all appropriate preventive care for both male and female veterans.
6.Orders diagnostic tests, medications, laboratory tests as medically relevant for each patient.
7.Provides timely follow-up on results, including completion of view alerts.
8.Determines medical assessment and develops treatment plans according to accepted protocols.
9.Prescribes medications according to approved formulary, and in accordance with Federal and State Law.
10.Educates patients concerning medical conditions and recommended treatments. (Specific topics include nutritional counseling, need for smoking cessation, need for periodic immunizations and health screening tests, and other preventive health measures).
11.Consults other specialties as appropriate, according to service agreements.
12. Is available for collaboration with advanced practice providers as needed.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/11/2020. Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience:
Completion of a two year residency training program in internal medicine, MedPeds, or Family practice, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required. If selected for this position, per VHA Directive 1177, you must possess current BCLS certification as you will provide direct clinical care to patients in this position.
Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.
Physical Requirements:
The work is usually sedentary, but it requires periods of walking, standing, bending, or climbing and employee may carry light items such as books, instruments, lap tops and other similar materials.
